System Overview

OVA-Protect is installed directly onto the external face of existing glass, using a combination of high-performance components, including:

  • Bespoke Polycarbonate Sheets
  • Shock-absorbing gasket system
  • VHB structural bonding tapes
  • Structural silicone sealants
  • Rigid perimeter capping

Each polycarbonate sheet is project-specific—carefully selected based on security requirements, then cut to size, gasket-mounted, and adhered directly to the glass surface.

Surface Protection

To extend durability and resist vandalism, the exposed face of the polycarbonate is coated with a clear, sacrificial anti-graffiti film.

This layer protects against surface damage and can be replaced if defaced, maintaining the integrity and appearance of the system over time.

Installation and Application

The system is typically used at ground-floor level, where glass is more susceptible to impact or vandalism.

Once installed, structural silicone is applied in the edge gaps to ensure a secure bond, and a rigid capping is fitted to complete the finish.

Important Considerations

While OVA-Protect significantly increases the difficulty of damaging or breaching the glass, it does not make the glazing unbreakable. Instead, it serves as a deterrent, slowing down and resisting impact, thereby delaying forced entry or vandalism.

This non-intrusive, retrofittable system is ideal for enhancing security where full glass replacement is not practical, offering both protection and peace of mind.

Welcome to the OVAGLAS® newsletter for June! Here's a look at some of the standout projects we completed this past month and what kept our team busy throughout the month.

June began with a series of installations at a shared office space in Manchester. Where we enhanced privacy and reinforced brand identity by applying frosted window film with precision-cut client logos and branding elements.

Next up, one of our installation teams travelled to a fire station in York to fit frosted window film. The film was applied to enhance privacy for staff while maintaining a clean, professional appearance that complements the building’s existing design

Our next project took us to a stylish location in London, where we fitted Solyx® SX-9050 Ribbed Glass Clear film to a glass door. This elegant, textured film offers subtle privacy while allowing natural light to pass through — the ideal choice for enhancing visual interest without sacrificing openness. We also completed a project in Kensington, where we carried out a trial installation of Solar 20 film to an apartment. This reflective window film is designed to significantly reduce heat and glare, helping to create a cooler, more comfortable living environment — especially in sun-exposed spaces. With its sleek appearance and energy-saving benefits, Solar 20 is a smart solution for urban homes looking to enhance comfort without compromising on natural light.

More Solar film next as we completed the installation of Silver 20 reflective film to the external entrance door of an apartment building in Oxford. This high-performance film delivers enhanced daytime privacy by creating a sleek, mirrored appearance from the outside while maintaining clear views from within. Ideal for high-traffic residential entrances, it not only provides added discretion for occupants but also helps reduce solar heat and glare. The result is a more private, comfortable, and visually modern entrance — without sacrificing natural light.

Next up for the team was a project at an office in Glasgow, where we installed Solyx® UltraGreen Reeded Glass film to bring both style and privacy to the workspace. The textured, vertical lines of the reeded design add a sleek architectural touch while subtly obscuring views — making it perfect for meeting rooms and office partitions. This film offers an ideal balance between visual appeal and functionality, allowing natural light to pass through while creating a sophisticated sense of separation and privacy.

June saw thousands more fridge and freezer doors installed with our Clarifoil® Anti-Fog film, with rollout projects across the UK, Europe, and North America.

Clarifoil® is made from a sustainable source, saves energy, and improves the shopping experience by keeping doors clear, even in high humidity months. Our Teams install at night, with minimum disruption to store operations, and have successfully installed Clarifoil on to over 150k Doors to date.

We wrapped up the month with a project at a hospital in Bath, where we installed Opal Frost film across a number of internal glass panels. Frosted films like this are particularly well-suited to medical environments, offering essential privacy for patients and staff while maintaining a bright, open feel. The soft, matte finish provides a clean, professional appearance and helps reduce distractions — making it ideal for consultation rooms, treatment areas, and corridors where both discretion and a calming atmosphere are key.

Your May Update from OVAGLAS®

Welcome to the second OVAGLAS® newsletter, highlighting a selection of the projects we brought to life throughout May, here’s a look at what kept our team busy over the past month.

We kicked off May with a series of installations at shared office spaces in both Leeds and Manchester. These projects focused on enhancing privacy with frosted glazing, while incorporating custom branding and client logos to create a professional, cohesive look throughout the workspaces.

Next up, one of our installation teams headed to Leicester to carry out a vinyl film replacement at a hotel. The new film was carefully selected to match the colour and style of the building’s façade, creating a cleaner, more unified appearance.

Our next project took us to the beautiful Stationers’ Hall in London, where we installed 3M Prestige 70 Solar Film. This high-performance film helps reduce heat and glare while maintaining the building’s historic appearance — a perfect solution for preserving comfort without compromising on aesthetics.

We also completed a project in Bristol featuring the installation of Casper Cloaking Technology. This innovative architectural film is designed to block LED and LCD screens from view when seen from outside a room, while remaining completely transparent to everything else. It’s a powerful solution for meeting rooms, offices, and collaborative spaces — helping prevent visual data breaches without compromising the open, modern feel of glass walls. This installation at a truck stop in Leeming Bar was carried out to provide privacy for a new gym space under development. We applied a silver reflective film that offers one-way visibility — allowing those inside to see out clearly, while preventing passers-by from seeing in. It’s an effective and stylish way to maintain privacy without sacrificing natural light.

Next up for the team was a project with Bulgaro Interiors, who wanted to elevate their showroom in Bexleyheath with a stylish privacy solution. The client chose Solyx® Reeded Glass Film for its elegant look and practical benefits. We installed it in multiple areas throughout the showroom — providing a high level of privacy while still allowing natural light to flow through the space.

Next up was an office installation in Sheffield, where we applied silver etch film in both full-height coverage and 1-metre-deep bands. The goal was to enhance privacy across key areas while incorporating custom logos and branding to maintain a polished, professional look throughout the workspace.

We wrapped up the month with another Solyx® decorative film installation — this time featuring Twilight Black Reeded Glass. Applied to refrigeration units at a hotel in London, the film was chosen to elevate the overall aesthetic, adding a sleek, modern touch while subtly obscuring the contents for a cleaner visual finish.

Welcome to the very first edition of the OVAGLAS Monthly Newsletter — a quick round-up of the amazing progress, key moments, and exciting updates from the past month. Whether you're a new customer or someone that has been with for a while, we're thrilled to have you on this journey with us.

Here’s what we’ve been up to this April:

We began the month with a Silver 20 Solar Film installation at a school in Bradford, significantly reducing solar gain and glare. The result? A more comfortable and productive environment for both students and staff.




In Leeds, one of our teams transformed a shared office space with a combination of Opal and Silver Frost films, alongside bespoke branded graphics—delivering both visual impact and functional privacy.




As spring temperatures began to rise, so did the demand for our commercial solar films. At a care home in Halifax, our installation improved resident comfort by cutting excessive heat and glare, while still allowing natural daylight to fill the space.




In central London, we externally applied Prestige 70 to basement skylights—lowering internal heat levels with minimal change to the appearance of the glazing. A discreet but effective solution for temperature control.


Further north, our team fitted frosted film to en-suite glazing at a hotel in Edinburgh, enhancing guest privacy without compromising on light—an ideal solution for hospitality environments.




Back in London, we completed an internal application of R50 Reflective Silver Film to bifold doors and skylights, significantly reducing heat and increasing thermal comfort in a residential property.




In Slough, we continued with another residential solar installation, applying reflective film to five key glazing panels to manage solar exposure and enhance energy efficiency.




Finally, in Hemel Hempstead, we installed Crystal Etch Frost to a conservatory—meeting the client’s need for complete privacy while preserving a bright, airy feel

Henderson Group See Clearly through the Fog

Following a study commissioned by the Henderson Group with their refrigeration partners, Portglenone Refrigeration Services Ltd (PRS), The Group made a commitment to retro-fit Clarifoil® Anti-fog film to their entire fleet of in-store freezers.

Recognising that condensation forming on freezer doors badly impairs product visibility and consumer product selection, they evaluated a number of solutions to resolve the issue before selecting Clarifoil Anti-fog film.

Glen Crumley of Henderson Group said, ‘’We selected Clarifoil from a range of options, not only because it proved to be the best solution in maintaining clarity of the glass, but it enabled us to make considerable energy savings by reducing the power consumed by the freezer door trim heaters’’

As part of the study, PRS measured the benefit of fitting adjustable controls to all Henderson Group freezers, designed to accurately control the power supplied to each individual freezer unit.

Clarifoil Anti-fog film can maintain the clarity of freezer doors even when trim heater power consumption is reduced by 75%, delivering savings of up to 6 kWh per freezer door per day. An annualised saving of 1,100 Megawatt hours of energy gave a strong case for the return-on-investment argument even before consideration is given to the increase in sales generated through the improved display of products.

Henderson Group and PRS selected OVAGLAS® to install Clarifoil because of their proven track record. Andrew Dunwoody of PRS said, ‘’OVAGLAS® were the obvious choice with their experience of installing Clarifoil in a working grocery environment. The installation teams showed the utmost professionalism and efficiency, completing the work across the group in just 10 working days’’

The project, to retro-fit Clarifoil on over 550 doors, was completed within normal shop hours with minimal disruption to store activity and was completed ahead of schedule.
